Welcome to the Roscommon International Film Festival, a thrilling celebration of cinematic talent in front of and behind the camera.

Based in the breathtaking heartlands of County Roscommon, Ireland, this event - now entering its fourth year - sets the stage for emerging filmmakers and screenwriters to showcase their creativity on a global platform in October 2026.

Open to submissions from all corners of the world, our contest welcomes short films as well as short and feature-length screenplays of diverse genres, be they drama, thriller, comedy, horror, or any captivating narrative that captures the imagination. Our primary goal is to discover and promote exceptional talent, searching for those hidden gems that possess the power to captivate audiences and leave an indelible mark on the world of cinema. ​​

Every submission to our contest is highly valued. As a testament to our dedication to nurturing talent, our panel of judges will provide detailed feedback on each entry, offering constructive insights and guidance to help refine their skills and craft.

With an unwavering commitment to supporting Irish talent, we have reserved a special category for entries originating from Ireland, plus a category specific to Roscommon. We believe in the richness of Irish storytelling and are passionate about providing a platform for local creatives to shine brightly among their global peers.

Selected films will be screened at our festival on 23rd & 24th October 2026 at the Roscommon Arts Centre. Trophies will be awarded across ten categories and feedback is provided on every entry received.
​
This contest continues an extraordinary journey and builds upon the huge success of our previous three festivals. We are delighted to be back for 2026, continuing to foster a vibrant atmosphere for networking, collaboration, and the celebration of cinematic artistry.

Festival directors
CC Braithwaite is a member of a BAFTA winning crew for her work on Emmerdale. With over twenty five years' experience in the film and TV industry, she is a multi-award winning director and producer of numerous short films, including Skylark, Expiry Date and Circuit Love.
Andrew Hannon is a best selling author, theatre and film producer, playwright and screenwriter. He wrote and starred in the short Irish film Creepy Hill. With a decade of experience running film festivals and contests, Andrew is delighted to bring RIFF back for 2026 to help promote Irish talent on a global stage.
